Sakay na!

Yeay! My first Tagalog title. HAHA. Anyway, the most convenient and practical way of commuting here in the Philippines is of course, our trusty and rusty Sarao Jeepneys. I ride the jeep to and from Manila and Quezon City almost everyday. Traveling the rocky baku-baku roads and inhaling the polluted air of Manila is always part of this journey. But besides all of these rockets and discomforts, every time I ride this poor excuse tin for a car, I get to meet a lot of people and see a lot of things. Different faces that come with different sizes. The only thing that we have in common is that we are all inside this smoke-belching machine. Have you ever wondered how our lungs cope up with the dirty air that we take in everyday? Well, I do and have always did. We must have accumulated a lot of charcot leyden macrophages. HAHA. There is of course a good side and a bad side in everything. I must have already witnessed a couple times of on-the-spot pickpocketing stealing pursenappers and have experienced a few of their expertise but it has not always been like that. God have always been good and have always heard my cries. But you know, sometimes this noise-blasting machine carries a rare surprise. Little children would sometimes climb aboard and distribute old dirty crumpled up envelopes with a note written on it. I seldom put coins in them and would prefer not to whenever I can. But I would gladly hand them biscuits and other snacks that I happened to have. If I have a chance, I would encourage people to share food rather than money. Why? That is because, I have already seen so many of them getting addicted to a lot of stuffs like cigarettes, rugby and who knows what else. By giving actual food, we can prevent them from buying harmful things. I have always been sadden at the sight of 5-6 years old boys smoking marlboros and other cigarette brands. The smoke is already a painful contribution to the nature but when they have finished smoking, the cigarette butts are now an additional drain cloggers. Three cheers for mankind.
Another good side of our Saraos is that, lately I've been noticing garbage cans tied up right behind the driver's seat. Litters and garbage are always a huge problem to our society. Some people are just too lazy to throw those unwanted things in the garbage can. There's one instance that I actually reached out my hand to one of the passengers sitting beside me and offered my help to throw her empty bottle before she got a chance to throw it outside the window. Haha. Funny that she didn't notice the garbage can sitting right in front of all of us. Anyway, remember that I have mentioned about meeting a lot of people? Well, I met someone with a unique feature. Remember "Meet the Robinsons"? Haha. I love all Pixar's animations. I can't forget this movie because of the mind-controlled dinosaur. He was all fierce and beastly trying to capture the boy (I forgot the name) and was unable to accomplish it because he have a big head and little arms (demo with dinosaur voice and match it with waging arms). Well, you see this guy sitting across of me, he have the exact arms of the dinosaur. His was only half the size of a normal arm. I was amazed and I admired him for living a normal life.
Different people, different stories, different lives. Good or bad, it's all up to you on how you make the best out of it. Now, do you still have the guts to ride the jeep? Of course you can! Sakay na! What are you waiting for? ^_^

From my point of perspective.

  1. HAHA wooowww!!! I was smiling throughout my whole reading of this post! hahaha nakakatuwa! Yup, I agree, sometimes I feel guilty of not giving some pennies dun sa mga bata but it is really for their own good naman, tama, give them food instead of money! :) haha and yes, many jeepneys now have their own garbage can but only good for those who are seated near it haha sana gawin nila at least 2-3 garbage cans nalang ilagay below the seats instead of loud speakers, at least abot ng lahat :))haha anyway, this is a very nice post! Very fun to read haha! :D

  2. I've always rode the jeep going to school. Mine is worst though coz I ride it for an hour. But it's ok. Yeah the smoke and people staring at each other are stuff that you experience inside the jeep, but I also experienced pick pocketing crimes. They are those people who use their gifts in a bad way. But anyway, the world is a cruel world to us because it hates us. God chose us out of the world and into His heaven. Us believers, that's why the world hates us. It's found in the book of John. ^^
